Microphone

A good studio should have the right microphones for the job.
What Microphone do I need?
Author: Tom Jacobs
There are a whole range of microphones for different applications. Firstly you can narrow your choice down by what you plan to use your microphone for. Karaoke Microphones Designed to be used by anyone, whether it is a little girl singing a love song or a macho man belting out heavy metal, the microphone has to be versatile to accommodate all types. Karaoke microphones are generally wireless and some of the more complex ones have thousands of songs built in as well as recording capabilities. Live Music Microphones Life on the road can be a bit rough, so you need a microphone that can withstand the knocks of being packed up and unpacked every night. Dynamic microphones are the best, there are loads to choose from, they’re easy to replace, not too expensive and fairly versatile. Camcorder Microphones If you want to enhance the audio quality of a video recording then a camcorder microphone is just the job. They are usually stereo microphones that fit to the body of the camcorder. However, if you are recording something like a live show, a stand alone microphone might be preferable to get the best quality recording. Internet Call Microphones If you want to use Skype or G-Talk you will need a Microphone attached to your PC. You may also need speakers but at a fraction of the cost you can buy headsets with both! These are very easy to use and leave you hands free so that you can continue to type as well. Voice Recording Microphones Some microphones sound better with a female voice than male and vice versa. A good producer should be able to advise you of the right one for you. Usually the best microphones for the studio are condensers. Ribbons are also very good but more expensive. Studio Microphones A good studio should have the right Microphone for the job. They would probably have condensers, dynamics and maybe a ribbon. Because you are using the microphones in a controlled environment it should be possible to get the best one for the job that suits the recording. Drum Microphones Usually strong dynamic microphones, there are some drum kits that include dedicated microphones for the kick, snare, toms, and maybe hat and overs. Podcasting If you want a bit better quality than your standard PC microphone then desktop computer microphones with a cardioid polar pattern works really well and are quite affordable. In general any dynamic microphone would do the job.

Email Marketing – Some Do’s and Don’ts

When it comes to your business online, there will be times when you have to make tough decisions especially when it comes to their strategies. Although there are many black hat tricks email marketing clever people have devised to increase business efficiency does not necessarily mean you should try these tricks too. Doing so can only damage their credibility in the long run and make it extremely difficult for you to regain the success online you already know. Get email addresses The method of obtaining email addresses is very important. One thing you should do is to prevent obtaining email addresses from a collection or a software supplier. Never exchange e-mail addresses of other people too. You should also avoid sending emails to those who have either not opted in or have opted out of your service. Instead, you should use the email addresses of people who have chosen to subscribe to your service. Although this practice gives you a great number of people to send emails also assured of the quality of your list of newsletter readers online. Please send emails only to people who really would like to receive them, spending on email marketing would also be more profitable. When sending messages Believe it or not, time really plays an effective role in sending mass emails. Each time a visitor decides to elect to receive their newsletter online, ask what time of day they prefer to receive your emails, and the frequency. You can ask them if they prefer daily, weekly, biweekly or monthly emails. E-mail Design The whole aspect of your email will significantly affect how the recipients will take your newsletters. One thing you have to set through email is the connection with their readers and their e-mail template can help. A good newsletters will always include contact information of the person behind the newsletter. You can include several options of votes to his readers a way to give suggestions and comments for improvement. Finally, in the bottom of your newsletter, include a un-subscribe link. Privacy The reason most people are reluctant to receive all that has to do with email marketing is that fear that their personal information may be sold as leads to other companies. To ease the minds of your readers, be sure to include a confidentiality statement. It goes without saying that you should never sell the information of your readers.

Could Domain Name Server Poisoning Be Affecting Your Bottom Line?

Are you a business owner with a busy website recording thousands, maybe even millions of hits a day? Have you noticed lately that the numbers seem to be falling precipitously for no good reason? Maybe you should look more closely at your domain name servers, the programs that route customers to your site; the following fictional scenario explains why. Imagine you are a huge multi-national corporation with a very recognizable trademark and several million hits a day on your website. Then, one month, your IT manager notices a sudden downturn in hit numbers. He brings this fact up at your next management meeting. The sales manager has something to say too: sale of your products on the Internet is way down, yet sales at your brick and mortar outlets have never been better. What’s going on? Around the table all eyes are suddenly on the Internet division. That division’s manager throws up his hands; he says sales as a percentage of hits remains constant, it’s not the fault of his website. So where have all the potential customers gone? Nobody seems to know. A hand goes up at the end of the table farthest from the CEO’s chair. One of the newest members of the management team, an assistant manager in the company mailroom, one of those individuals expected to be seen but not heard unless asked, has something to say. Hesitantly she describes something strange that happened a few days ago on her home computer: she typed in the company domain name and was taken directly to an unfamiliar website. She’d tried the address again and got your company the second time, but she’d been wondering about that other company ever since. The sales manager rolls his eyes, “You put in the wrong address,” he says. “No,” the underling answers with a bit more confidence, “I didn’t. The address history is still on my computer.” Meanwhile, Paul the IT man is typing frantically on his laptop. “What’s going on, Paul?” asks the CEO. Paul looks up: “I think I know what happening. We’ve been poisoned! I’d like everybody here with a computer to try typing in the company website address.” The CEO shrugs and reaches for his laptop. Of course everyone follows his lead. “What’s the problem?” says the sales manager contemptuously after a bit, “I got our site!” “Well I didn’t!” the CEO says. What this fictional company discovered is called DNS poisoning. Every domain and therefore every website depends on computer programs called Domain Name Servers (DNS) to quickly and accurately route requests for individual websites. If those servers are hijacked by malicious hackers, they will bypass the legitimate website and take the potential customers to the hackers’ website where they can be sold a competitor’s product or fitted with a virus in hopes of ruining the original company’s reputation. Just like in the scenario above, it might not happen every time somebody types in your domain name—the hacker doesn’t want to kill the golden goose—but it will happen enough to profit the hacker and cost you customers. How common is this? One security expert, the discoverer of a serious vulnerability in 2008, estimates that 1 to 3 percent of all domain name servers have been compromised. Not an imposing number, certainly, but if you happen to be one of those 1 to 3 percenters… What can be done? There is a security protocol named “DNS Security Extension” (DNSSEC) available. While there is movement toward covering the entire domain name system with this protocol, at the moment only a few domain name extensions are covered. The U.S. government has mandated all dot-Gov and dot-Mil domains have DNSSEC protection. Dot-Org is possibly the only generic top-level-domain extension under its umbrella (at least there has been talk of it doing so), and as for the country-code extensions, only Sweden, Bulgaria, Brazil, Puerto Rico and Turkmenistan have the coverage.

effective strategy

A very simple yet effective strategy when blogging is to own your domain name and pay for your own hosting.
Today many people are blogging to make money and need to reflect a more professional and 'permanent' image to their followers.
Read more to discover the clear advantages owning your domain and paying for hosting offers people who are serious bloggers.
A Very Effective Strategy for Any Blogger
Author: TJ Philpott
A very effective strategy for any blogger on the internet would be to own your domain and pay for your hosting. By owning your domain name you establish stability you would not necessarily have by using a free blog site and the name they assigned you. Don't get me wrong these free sites are great and can be very effective for several purposes. Many folks today however are blogging to make money and these free sites often impose certain restraints on the sites they are hosting. The blogging business is big money now a days and constrictions of any kind could mean a significant loss of income. The general assumption is that any domain you use that you do not own is the property of a site that also provides you with free hosting. Let's look at 3 major advantages you have as a blogger when you own your domain name and pay for hosting compared to using the domain a free blog site assigns you that limits your individuality. No Censorship Free blogs can place restraints upon any of the blogs on their server. Any comments or opinions left on your blog by a reader could result in your site being suspended or shut down by the host if it is viewed as a violation. Obviously the sharing of candid and sometimes inflammatory opinions could 'ignite' this reaction at any time. In effect you inherit a type of censorship when using a free site. More Professional Image The name itself if it is a 'sub-domain' usually does not have a clean looking appearance. It shouts TEMPORARY to any visitors to your site. Your own domain however can be whatever you choose and will not contain the additional characters that clearly denote it as a sub-domain. If your blog site is used for business there are likely certain formats or layouts you may need or want to use to reflect the 'message' of the business itself. By using a 'free' site' you are automatically limited to what they offer you. Greater Flexibility Look and content are totally under your direction when you own your domain and pay for hosting. This is important since a large part of a blogs influence and popularity is dependent upon it individuality. Readers 'want' to hear your opinion and not a modified version toned down to placate the host. It is the difference between 'owning' your home or 'renting' it! If you become unhappy with your hosting company you can take your domain name elsewhere. You do not risk losing all your current 'followers' do to a complete name change. As you can understand especially if you are blogging to make money a very effective strategy would be to own your domain and pay for your hosting. By doing so you spare yourself the inconvenient restrictions you would face at a free site where you are renting space. This type of unpredictability and limitations is not something anyone involved in the blogging business needs. Blogging is based upon consistency, individuality, and longevity and this necessary combination would be jeopardized at any of the free sites.

How Twitter Training Can Make Twitter More Effective

Twitter is something that everyone from preteens to grandparents is experimenting with. Signing up with the site and sending out short tweets is a simple way to keep other people apprised of what you’re doing and what you have to offer. Promotional tweets are a powerful way to spread the word about any money-making enterprise. But, with some Twitter training, the site can be made into a much more effective means of self promotion. With the right training, it’s possible to craft each message for its maximum impact. Twitter messages that get passed along to hundreds if not thousands of people are instant promotional tools. Any Twitter training that can help a user take control of this powerful marketing force is worth the effort. Many people have found that they can spread the word about what they are promoting faster and farther with Twitter than with simply updating a blog or writing an article. These posts can take the place of many of the more difficult marketing tools that are in use. Sending out short tweets is faster than blogging, and it delivers the promotional message more effectively. And best of all, using Twitter is an absolutely free marketing tool. The most effective marketing messages are often short ones that get right to the point. That concept makes Twitter perfect for doing just that. Twitter’s blog-like posts are short and sweet, making them especially attractive to readers. They are easy to read and easy to pass on to others. Once a promotional message is sent out, there’s no telling how far it will go. With the right Twitter training, that kind of viral marketing can turn any small business into a more successful venture. It can result in more followers, better tweets and a more effective marketing campaign.

What is an Rss Feed?

Author: elizabeth ashe

What is an RSS Feed? A common term seen online is “RSS Feed”. However, just what do the letters RSS stand for and what is all the rage surrounding this frequently used term? RSS actually stands for really simple syndication. In this case they are referring to web syndication, which is making the content of a website or blog available for others to use. It is making the feed of a website available for others to access and read elsewhere rather than just from the main web site. RSS feeds are the way in which a series of blog posts, news stories or headlines, podcasts or other similar content is distributed or syndicated on the Internet. Using a feed makes it easier for a person to access the information in an automated way, using a feedreader or aggregator, such as Google Reader. There are also desktop readers that will download the information to your computer desktop. Both are merely a type of software that allows you to read RSS feeds all in one place rather than having to hop from blog to blog or news site to news site. RSS feeds really can simplify the way that you access content across the web. Using an RSS feed reader or aggregator can save you a lot of time when you are wanting to access information. You can subscribe to specific feeds and even categorize them and file them so that you can have easily access to that particular information later, when you’re ready to read up on the news, your favorite blogs, or specific topics related to your business or life. And, after all that is what the use of RSS feeds is all about making it really simple for people to access the information that they need or making the information that you have for others available to them in a simple manner.

blogging tips

Community events are great focuses for blog posts. Be positive about your position and your community. You are not just selling homes; you're selling a lifestyle in a community – get out there and tell people why it's such an awesome place to live and what's exciting about the real estate there and they will start thinking that you're a pretty awesome choice for their real estate transaction.

Capturing the Attention of the Masses on Your Real Estate Blog

Author: Tony Kawaguchi

If you're like a lot of real estate agents, you have a blog that serves to showcase your listings, maybe market stats and very little else. However, there is a way you can make your real estate blog a destination for more than just people who want to buy right now. By blogging about information that appeals to a wide variety of people, you will increase your exposure, establish your authority and connect with people who might possibly be your next real estate clients.

People love stories of success and failure, but they especially love the stories that give them the idea that this could be their success or that they could avoid that failure by taking advantage of the handy tips that you are, of course, going to give them. People love humor – the agent who can be simultaneously self-deprecating while maintaining authority on their subject is going to have a winning blog post. Blogging about your mistakes and what you learned from them can be a good way to both establish that you realize you're human and that you've won your real estate experience through real events.

Right now, people are voracious for information about how they can get ahead. This is the time to post information about foreclosure homes and the risks and rewards. Blogging about common scams that are targeting homeowners and home buyers is also blogging gold. Right now, frugal living is a popular theme – showing people how they can own their own home and save money by gardening, renting out rooms, using the freedom of owning their own property to engage in small business is another great angle.

Your community/communities are another huge source of blogging fodder.

Of course, you have to establish your readership. Start getting out there in your community forums and answering questions, offering friendly advice that is not linked to marketing yourself, mention a post in your blog that might help someone out… the point is to be approachable, but not appear like you're trying to sell yourself and your business. Your blog will sell your business for you if you get enough of a following to make people take notice of what you say and regard you as an authority.

site traffic

Tired Of Wasting Time Trying Useless "Free" Methods To Get Traffic? Ready To Take The Next Step And Purchase Guaranteed Website Traffic? Then This Article Is For You.

How to Buy Guaranteed Web Site Traffic

Author: Kyle

So, I guess you're finally ready to give up free advertising and pay for highly targeted traffic. That's okay, although I'm not sure you want to make that step quite yet. Please fist consider the following free ideas:

Have you tried writing in popular forums dealing with online business? These are a source of great tips and tricks, and you can promote your website with a default signature there.

Have you tried article marketing? Hundreds of article directories allow you to post articles to them for free. You can use these to create tons of back links.

Have you considered video marketing? High-quality videos get high traffic on Youtube.

Have you advertised your website on free-ad sites? Advertise wherever you can!

Have you bookmarked your website to popular spots such as Twitter, and Digg? It can't hurt, and it is free!

Have you used all the methods listed at http://progressyourtraffic.com? Have you used any of the many free guides out there to make quality money and traffic?

If you answered yes to all these questions, and still feel that your website does not get great traffic and profit, then it is time to move on. Buying website traffic is a big step. It means you are willing to spend money with the risk of generating less money than spent.

When you buy traffic, you hope that you will make more money than you spend. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work out that way. Make sure your website is ready to transfer traffic into profit before you buy traffic. You want to take full advantage of your traffic before paying a cent for it. That means you should:

Set-up advertisements using Google Adsense. This provides a great way for your customers to view and click ads which earns you profit.

Promote products by affiliating. Affiliating is when you tell someone to buy another persons product. If they buy it, the owner of the product will pay you. The easiest way to do this is to use Clickbank, an online program were merchants list their products and affiliates sell them.

Set-up an easy way for visitors to become members of your site. You can then have forums and blogs for them to participate in. Advertise on these with Google Adsense for thousands of impressions and clicks. Also, send members news letters and emails promoting products.

Get your website properly equipped to receive traffic. That means have a lot of bandwidth to avoid server crashes.

Are all of these steps done? Then you are finally ready to buy guaranteed traffic. There are several ways to do this. It all depends on how automatic you want it. Do you want control over where stuff goes? Or do you want traffic to just flood in without you doing a thing? Here are some ways to buy traffic:

Use Google Adwords. Google Adwords is probably the most automatic guaranteed system. Google Adwords allows you to post advertisements to your site in Google searches and other sites. It is guaranteed because you pay only when your ad is clicked on.

Use automatic article producers. If you like article marketing, but are no good at it, then you can use programs to write and submit articles for you. Its great! The article wizard (see resource box) will write any article for you on almost any topic, regardless of your previous knowledge on that topic. The article mass producer (see resource box) will make thousands of copies of one article, and submit them to several article directories. This is very useful because it not only produces a ton of traffic to your website, but it also gives you a ton of back links, which will increase your page rank. I prefer using these programs over Google Adwords, because these require only a one time payment, where as Adwords requires several payments for more traffic.

Use bookmarking robots. Bookmarking robots are extremely useful. They increase your targeted traffic, back links, and page rank. They categorize your bookmarks into different tags to increase targeted traffic. Bookmarking demon (see resource box) is my favorite of all these programs. Bookmarking demon is not a spam tool, is designed for multiple site categories, only requires a one-time payment, and avoids the duplicate content problem. Also, the bookmarking demon is almost completely automatic, you just set it up and watch it go. However, if you find a better one, for a cheaper price, feel free to use that instead.

Most other methods for traffic are not guaranteed, but these re definitely not the only traffic methods you can use. Thanks for reading.

website architecture tutorial

An easy to follow, 5 step process to create a useful and focused website layout

Website architecture tutorial: 5 steps do design a website

Author: Pedro Neira

What usually happens when someone starts to design a website is that you gather together some people from different areas (programmers, designers, salespeople, marketing, etc) and create a team in charge to come up with a website (an Intranet, a CRM or any other web based application). The meeting begins and everybody starts saying things they’d love the website to do:

  • SALES: “It’d be cool if the website sent an automated e-mail every time I need to visit a new customer”
  • FINANCE: ”It’d be great if I could have real time financial statements”
  • etc, etc.

With processes like that, companies usually end up losing focus on what’s really important for them. One single feature might end up consuming more programming resources than all the rest together, and if at the end it wasn’t so important… you just invested your limited resources inefficiently. Another possible outcome of website architecture like the one described above is that you might end up with a very complex and expensive application of which you just use 30-40% of its features…Well, You get the picture no? This way of coming up with a website is clearly inefficient.

The 5 step process proposed here is a simple, but organized procedure to be focused through the whole process and end up with a website or web application that addresses your needs. In some way or another we all do part of what’s described here, the only and most important thing to remember is just to be disciplined enough to stick to the process, step by step. You’ll feel the temptation to propose solutions or features from the beginning jump or skip one step, but if you don’t do it and stick to the whole tutorial, you’ll end up with a solution that answers you needs without overspending resources.

1. List the PROBLEMS that you want to solve and which GOALS you want to achieve with your website

Usually everybody jumps straight to layout decisions, functionalities without having clearly defined what are your goals, what problems are you trying to solve with your website. Having clearly defined problems and visible and measureable objectives is the key to stay focused through the whole design process. It’s very important that in this stage you:

  • Don’t propose solutions. Focus completely on defining the problems.
  • If you think of a cool feature or functionality, write it down in a piece of paper and set it aside until later in the process. This is not the time to think of solutions

Examples of PROBLEMS

  • I don’t know who my customers are
  • (for an Intranet) I can’t get company information in real time

Examples of OBJECTIVES

  • Decrease 10% in average marketing costs per sold item through online selling (vs traditional channels like retail and catalogue sales)
  • I want to increase awareness of my company in my potential market
  • Increase the satisfaction level of my Top 10% customers through better customer service

2. Define “WHAT” you need to do

Here the objective is to define in a bit more detail What does your website need to do in order to solve the problems listed in step 1. What is important here is Not to focus on HOW are you gonna do it, but to focus on detailing WHAT needs to be done.

Example

  • Step 1, Objective: Increase the daily average number of visits of my salesforce
  • Step 2, “What”: We need to create a web based calendar in our sales Intranet.

How you’ll do the calendar, which functionalities will it have and how the layout and colors will be DO NOT belong here at this point of the process. Remember: Just list what needs to be done, not how.

It’s also important NOT to list things to do that are not directly related to solve the problems (or the objectives) you defined in Step 1. This is how you identify and filter which functionalities you really need to do… and which others just “sound cool” or “would be nice to have” but aren’t really solving your central problems. After you finish the list, check one by one and think if what you’re proposing is really contributing to solve the problems/objectives mentioned in Step 1. If it’s not, erase it from the list.

The rest of the article will continue in my next post “Website architecture tutorial: 5 steps do design a website – Part 2

rss feeds

Learn how to use RSS feeds to build up an automated blog network

Using RSS Feeds for Blog Content

Author: Mona Sutherland

So, you're starting your blog empire, but you just realized that means a heck of a lot of writing. Now many people do end up outsourcing their daily updates and just take care of things on the backend, but for those of you that would rather do everything yourself, there is a simple and elegant solution to filling up your blogs with plenty of content - RSS feeds.

RSS is a protocal that stands for “Really Simple Syndication”, but this article isn't going to get into the nuts and bolts of how RSS works. Instead, this one is going to cover exactly where to find great RSS feeds to use as search engine fodder.

There are a few things that really make or break a RSS feed. If you aren't going to be doing any of your own updates, finding ones with consistent updates is very important. Some sponsors are really on the ball with this, but the vast majority of them keep it going for awhile and then get bored. This is probably because getting blog traffic is a long term type of strategy, and it can take some time to see a return on investment.

The next thing you want to look for is well written text that is long enough to keep the search engines happy. Some RSS feeds are literally nothing more than glorified gallery descriptions - you get one short line with a crappy thumb and that's about it. Now, it's possible that you have accidentally stumbled onto the actual gallery RSS, but chances are the sponsor doesn't really know what blog feeds require.

The longer the better, usually, but in general you are looking for 50-100 words. The last thing you want to look for are eye catching thumbs. Your text will get the visitors there via the search engines, but good pictures will keep them there and clicking though to your sponsors.

There are so many different RSS parsers that it would be impossible to cover them all, both free and paid. If you're using Wordpress there is a world full of plugins that you can try out - the one I personally have used is Feed Wordpress. There are stand alone scripts and hosted scripts and any other type of script you can think of - the main thing to do is just try them out and see which one works for you. The best kind have some sort of rewriting function so that you can swap out enough words to make the feed post unique to your blog. That way, you can actually get ranked instead of competing with everyone else that is using that feed. Now you just sit back and let the script handle it.

If you're in a smaller niche that either doesn't have RSS feeds at all, or they are just crappy ones, there is another solution - you can make your own. Now there are two scripts that I know of offhand for this - one free and hosted, the other paid. The one I use most often is the paid script called Gallery Scraper. This allows you to input a list of hosted galleries, it generates the screenshots for you, and then you just put in the text. You do need an RSS parser for the actual feeds, but the amount of time saved by these pre setup galleries is just mind blowing.

The other script that will do this is Gallery2Blog. It is not quite as elegant as Gallery Scraper, but it is free and hosted elsewhere. Like Gallery Scraper, it will generate the screenshots for you from a list of hosted galleries, and all you need to do is put in the text. This one also requires a separate RSS parser.

Although high quality handwritten blogs do very well, it is very hard to build up a huge network of those. The time and/or money sink is just gigantic, and sometimes you don't have much luck with a particular niche. So making a combination network of both handwritten and RSS fed blogs is one way to really build yourself up without much of an outlay. With the RSS automated, you'll have plenty of traffic generation to feed your handwritten blogs, along with income coming in from these.

Whether or not you want to actively promote your RSS blogs is up to you - the thing that I did was just make niche directories that I could dump all of my RSS blogs into. I did make my handwritten ones prominent in these directories, but the hubs like this also make it easy to keep track of just how many blogs you have per niche.

So whether you're a diehard blogger looking for ways to expand your network painlessly, or you're a blog newbie looking for some advice, hopefully you have found plenty of useful tips and ideas! Now get to blogging.

link building services

What is link building and what you should look for when deciding on selecting the different link building services and link building packages available. The wrong choice can actually harm your website by getting it banned from the search engines.

The Golden Standard In Link Building Services

Author: Anton Cox

Avoid Google SEO Penalties: Which Link Building Services Are Gold?

link

When focusing your online marketing efforts on link building, it’s quality, not quantity that provides the strong foundation from which other links can be built. Link building services are like panning for gold. The prospector must know gold when he sees it (sites with a high amount of traffic in a related industry are a great start). The prospector must know where to look (starting with the DMOZ and Yahoo directory) and what to do with the raw nuggets he finds (Submit the website, get listed in the directory or email the webmaster) in order to make or request a valuable one-link that will catch the eye of search engines.

There are 3 parts to the gold standard of link building.

  • 1. Link building services that deal in multiple reciprocal links are ‘fools’ gold. Most back links that you pay for have little or no value. There's a myth among marketers that “more is better" but many back links can actually undermine your site's ranking. Most people believe the following is true:
  • Buying back links is an easy and quick way to the top. It is expensive, but you will get a high Page Rank. You will not spend the many hours of dull link building work” – This is entirely false.

Firstly, Page Rank is an unreliable indicator of a pages value. If you are a PR1 then, in theory, aiming to link with sites that have a higher PR is wise, but it isn’t a one way path to the top. Google openly admits they ‘play’ with the data and it is ‘inaccurate’. Secondly, buying links is a big No! Google is quite rightly rejecting the practice of buying links to enhance your website. Google engineers monitor the top ranking sites for competitive keywords and if they slightly suspect link buying has been involved in your position, you can be penalised, even banned.

This, however, does not mean that you cannot buy the services that help create the most valuable links of all; one-way theme links.

What is a one-way theme link?

Theme equals ‘content’ which includes written content, video, audio anything that adds considerable value to the search results. One-way = your link embedded within quality content/information, then publishing on the web for the general public to access.

The pitfall is that many website owners get swept along with buying link building packages at the lowest price and this puts your website into an inescapable trap. The easier the link is to create, the lower the cost, the lower the cost the lower the value. Google isn’t going to make it easy for you to get links. They want to see you offer ‘value’ along with your links. Your website will probably get blacklisted by Google if you follow the cheapest option. The ‘fools gold’ of link building services is having many thousands of links originating from the same place or from worthless reciprocal link farms or from links created with other website that have no value in Google’s eyes. Google frowns on the practice of multiple back links pointing to a site from just one source. Particularly if the originating site has poor content value, loads of links and a low Page Rank. This is a characteristic failing of ‘link exchanges’ aka ‘Link Farms’ and their link building packages. Google spots these a mile away and will penalise their ranking. Reciprocal links are worthless now as a strategic move, however, tactically they still have their value, it’s better to have a reciprocal link with a high traffic site, then to have nothing at all. So simply linking up to a link exchange script is not only ineffective but also is damaging to your site, particularly if you don’t take the time to assess the value of each site before offering your link to a webmaster or blog owner.

  • 2. Link building services that give you only ‘natural’ links are solid gold. What makes a good natural link may sounds obscure at first, but knowledge of your marketplace, in particular, your customer, helps identifying keywords to include on your website, also known as, on-page optimisation. They keywords provide considerable insight into this industry terminology and allow you to cater your content to the needs and desires of your market. To create the most valuable of links – theme link – involves using a combination of entertaining and informative copywriting (just like this) that solves and quenchers the target markets thirst for knowledge and integrating these keywords – this should be done for each page of your website. Only after that process is completed do you start building links to your website.
  • Sites that widely promote the trading of links should be avoided at all costs. Google looks for authentic, natural and organically developed back links. Sooner rather than later they will detect artificial links such as those that are openly traded. The obvious link trading networks are easy link partners for first-timers due to the structure of these networks they are wide open to discovery by Google engineers, once the engineers find these sites, they find you links as well, follow them and thus all parties involved are affected, even disqualified by Google.

  • 3. Link building services that give you permanent back links are worth their weight in gold. Back links are critical to SEO and traffic generation. If you are going to invest into a one-way link building campaign, you must get a return on that investment. Steer well clear of subscription back links that take a monthly or quarterly fee for maintaining your ranking. Only ever pay for permanent one-way links. There is only one thing worse than not having a low search engine standing and that is losing your previously good search engine standing.
  • If you think that getting a solid gold link building service is just a matter of getting out your cheque book, think again. You need to make sure your website is optimised with the correct keywords, and then you embark on a one-way theme-link building campaign. That’s it! The fools gold links, reciprocal links and buying links, can seriously damage your websites marketing efforts. As with all things in life, it is more about quality rather than quantity that customers appreciate and Google rewards you for focusing on.

    RSS feeds

RSS feeds are great for getting fresh information regularly on your website. This is a very convenient option that will benefit websites and blogs through updated content on a consistent basis and increased traffic.

    How to Use RSS Feeds

    Author: Wendy Moore

You may have seen the words RSS Feed many times on websites and blogs that you frequent, but exactly what is an RSS Feed?

RSS refers to Really Simple Syndication which is actually a format that allows a publisher to get updated content on their website or blog with little effort. Sometimes, RSS is also known as Rich Site Summary. Feed formats used in updating web content include news headlines, blog posts, audio clips and videos.

RSS formats have been in existence since 1999 but its popularity soared during 2005 and 2006. Currently, there are many sites that offer a feed of their content through the RSS format.

    Why use RSS?

No longer do you need to search for fresh content every day to provide information on your site. RSS is a lot more convenient because it allows you to utilise other people’s information and feed it directly onto your website or blog. You no longer need to rush writing articles or hire article writers. Just search for relevant articles from directories on the internet and RSS allows you to feed them directly to your website.

    How to use RSS

Using RSS feeds is easy. You just have to add several lines of code on your web page or blog and your content will automatically be updated.

Usually you need a feed reader or news aggregator software to gain RSS feeds from different websites and display them on your own web pages. Feed readers come in a variety of platforms but there are also the web-based feed readers such as My Yahoo, Bloglines and Google Reader.

After obtaining your feed reader, the next step is to find sites that syndicate content and add the RSS feed to the list of feeds your reader keep tracks of. This is done through subscription and usually by entering the feed’s URL into the feed reader.

Another option is to simply click an RSS icon in a browser which automatically starts the subscription process. The main function of an RSS reader is to monitor the user’s subscribed feeds for new content, downloads them and then provides a user interface to read the feeds.

Any publisher or author will greatly appreciate the benefits they can gain with using RSS feeds. By providing fresh and relevant content on a consistent basis, there’s an increased possibility of attracting more visitors to your site. Additionally, search engine spiders will be prompted to index your web pages and will do so regularly especially as your site gets updated with fresh information.

    Mistaken Affiliate

'You may think this is far off from you', think again becuase it may just be by the door!'

    Mistaken Affiliate Penalty Happens
    Author: Musawenkosi
There should be a way to handle suspect affiliate fraud and one that wont bring shame to both the affiliate programme and the publisher. Its indisputably hurting to be deprived affiliation especially when you were reaping benefits from your website. I don’t know about those who fraud affiliate programmes intensionally, but for someone who is taken by surprise at account termination, it surely cuts to the born. I am a victim to false accusation from an affiliate company that I had gotten exited about because I was seeing a lot of progress. My story is detailed in two different forums: First, in my blog where the termination happened. I discovered this when I visited my website from a friends office and all the banners from this affiliate programme were gone. Think of the many pages that I had to reword because they were banner-less. It was such a huge inconvenience. I detail this in the post ‘ Assumes Affiliate Technical Complication’ . Second, I had to ask my wife to join this affiliate programme and help her open a website she will own so she can run the adds from the affiliate programme that terminated my account. I detail wife’s engagement into affiliate maketing in these two posts ‘ My Other Me’ Shall Correct my Affiliate Mistakes’ and ‘ How I got into Affiliate Marketing’ Why should I bother writing this? Who cares after all? What am I all about? I guess the reason makes part of the benefit of having a blog. Bloggers have freedom of expression and whatever is said, people can learn a lesson. My attitude is that ‘in every business one can get a lesson’, likewise, I treat my blog as a business and thus a lesson can be learnt from my experiences. If you are a webmaster or an aspiring one, you surely can learn to prepare yourself for the many challenges faced while doing business online. I know this will be over in no time, but life will go on as usual and for the record, this will be a testimony into my online success.
